Burlington Opens First of 60 New Stores After Acquiring Former Joann Locations

Retailer launches expansion with openings in Bangor, Maine, and Laredo, Texas

Burlington, the renowned off-price retailer, is set to open two new stores on September 26, marking the beginning of an ambitious expansion plan involving 60 new locations.

These openings follow the company's strategic acquisition of 45 former Joann store leases, capitalizing on the craft retailer's recent bankruptcy and subsequent store closures.

The new stores will be located at 6 Bangor Mall Blvd in Bangor, Maine, and 2420 Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo, Texas.

In Bangor, this will be the second Burlington store in the state, complementing the existing location in South Portland and providing residents with another convenient shopping destination.

In Laredo, the new store aims to cater to the growing demand for affordable, brand-name merchandise in the region.

Following these initial openings, Burlington plans to launch additional stores across 23 states and Puerto Rico in the coming months.

Notably, on October 3, new locations are scheduled to open in cities including Houston, Texas; Irondequoit, New York; Warrensville Heights, Ohio; City of Industry, California; Algonquin, Illinois; Louisville, Kentucky; and Grandville, Michigan.

To celebrate these grand openings, Burlington is offering a $10 bonus card to the first 100 customers on the Friday and Saturday of each opening weekend.

This bonus card is valid for purchases totaling $10 or more and cannot be combined with other coupons or offers.

In addition to expanding its physical footprint, Burlington is actively hiring staff to support these new stores and distribution centers.

The retailer currently operates over 1,000 locations nationwide, offering a wide range of products from name brands such as Steve Madden, Revlon, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, and Calvin Klein.

By acquiring former Joann locations, Burlington is strategically positioning itself to meet its goal of opening 500 net new stores by the end of Fiscal 2028, thereby expanding its market share and providing customers with more opportunities to enjoy its treasure-hunt shopping experience.

As the retail landscape continues to evolve, Burlington's proactive approach to expansion underscores its commitment to growth and customer satisfaction.

Shoppers can look forward to discovering great deals and a refreshed in-store experience at these new locations.
