Good morning, Penobscot Valley!
The recent snowfall definitely made everything look picture-perfect… but let’s be honest — some of us are officially ready to move on from winter. If you’re still cheering for more snow, you’re likely in one of three camps: snow removal pros, ambitious young shovel entrepreneurs, or die-hard skiers squeezing out every last run. The rest of us? We’re eyeing spring like it’s just around the corner… and hoping it actually means it this time. This week’s edition is packed with ways to shake off the winter blues — from community events and family outings to local happenings that make it worth getting out of the house (even if you still need the winter coat). 👉 As always, if you enjoy this newsletter, share it with a friend and help us grow the Penobscot Valley Voice community! |

💡 Answer to Trivia Question: A) 1897 The Thomas Hill Standpipe was completed in 1897. While it looks like a grand wooden monument, it actually serves a very practical purpose: it holds a 1.75-million-gallon steel water tank that helps regulate water pressure for the city of Bangor. It was designed by engineer Ashley B. Tower and is now a National Historic Landmark. The exterior is made of hard pine siding, and if you're lucky enough to visit during one of the seasonal "Open House" days, the view from the top deck is one of the best in the Penobscot Valley! |
